If you are not yet on Mfangano Island but stay in or around Mbita, our two day tour will be the best choice.

 

The reason is that the last ferry from Mfangano Island back to the mainland in Mbita leaves daily already at 2pm, leaving too little time to explore the island in one day. Therefore we recommend one night on the Island.

Program
After pickup from your acommodation in or around Mbita by one of our guides you will take the first ferry to Mfangano Island at 9am in the morning to make the most out of your day.

 

After the one hour boat drive which you can enjoy outside in the back of the ferry to enjoy a nice breeze on Lake Victoria you will arrive at Mfangano Island where the following highlights are waiting for you: ​

• Visit of famous Rock Art & Cave

• Do a 2-3hr hike

• Visit of Abasuba Community Peace Museum

• Lunch at local families home (Alternative: Lunch at Siambi Resort) 

• Visit of local Artist to experience traditional Craftmanship

• Visit of fisherman & traditional wooden boat builders

• Visit of organic local fruit garden for Bananas, Papayas, Mangos & Avocados

• 30-Minutes boat drive on Lake Victoria

The various activities will be timed throughout the two days based on your preferences, weather and availability.

Throughout the whole two days you will also be able to enjoy the amazing panorama views around the island. 

​

In the evening of the first day you will either get dinner and stay with a family from the local community for the night or sleep and get dinner at one of the resorts for an extra charge (e. g. Siambi Resort). 

​

On the second day the program will continue until the last ferry of the day at 2pm will bring you back to Mbita ferry Point from where you will be brought back to your acommodation.

Kenyan citizen:    5700 KSH per person

International:       67 USD per person

 

​If you prefer to stay in a resort we can also arrange that. The extra charge for staying at Siambi resort is 5000 KSH for kenian citizens and 50 USD for International guests.
